TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY YOU DECIDED TO BECOME A TAGA STUDENT AMBASSADOR.
My decision to become a student ambassador stemmed from the opportunity to create more notice for our chapter here at Ball State University. Our social media was lacking in some areas, but with a team mentality our support continues to grow.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR ACADEMIC CAREER SO FAR?
Originally I was on a pre-med track, but I discovered the world of graphics during my sophomore year and it just clicked. I appreciate a more hands-on approach when it comes to learning. The chance to imagine and create really intrigued me, making this one of the biggest discoveries of my career.
WHAT SKILLS HAVE YOU GAINED FROM BEING A TAGA STUDENT MEMBER?
Real-world experience has been the most beneficial skill I’ve attained. Being a part of TAGA has been crucial toward boosting my confidence while talking to prospective clients. The logistics of doing an entire job from start to finish along with dealing with the finances associated is priceless at this stage in my career.
WHAT’S A TYPICAL DAY LIKE AT YOUR SCHOOL AND WHEN YOU’RE NOT IN CLASS, WHAT CAN WE FIND YOU DOING?
My typical day starts with early shifts at John J. Pruis Hall, and throughout the day I attend my graphic communication management and business courses. Our TAGA executive board and my fundraising team meet every week to discuss upcoming jobs, journal plans, and general chapter activities.
While I find myself pretty busy most of the time, I do enjoy creating music and designing graphics for both Instagram and my clothing line.
HOW HAS BEING A TAGA STUDENT MEMBER SHAPED WHO YOU ARE AS A PERSON?
Seeing how much effort everyone puts forth in times where we might be stressed has been one of the most eye opening realizations for me. My willingness to help take away a little of everyone’s burden increased, and I noticed our relationship as a team grew with everyone contributing in the same manner.
WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU’RE PASSIONATE ABOUT?
I’ve recently become more focused on self improvement, and the more I stay focused on growth in each moment I feel extremely positive and content with what I am doing in the present. Even the most mundane task has turned into a challenge to do my best. Apart from this, I really enjoy creating shirt designs from ideas and bringing them into fruition. I honestly feel a rush when it comes to sewing a unique shirt that has never been conceived before.
WHAT MAKES YOUR TAGA STUDENT CHAPTER AND ITS MEMBERS UNIQUE?
When it comes to creativity, I am repeatedly amazed by some of the designs that our design team creates. From jobs to our journal last year, the craft and skill of the team’s creations simply blows my mind. It truly is always a treat to see what they come up with.
WE’RE HEADED TO OKLAHOMA CITY FOR THE 2020 TAGA ANNUAL TECHNICAL CONFERENCE! WHAT WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE BEING A STUDENT ATTENDEE IN PAST YEARS?
Last year was an incredible experience, being able to meet some of the top professionals in the industry and learn about cutting-edge advances in printing technology was truly inspiring. The conference led to meeting one of the greatest mentors I’ve had in my life and lit my excitement to start my career.
LASTLY, IF YOU COULD BE A SUPERHERO, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
It would have to be Beast Boy from the original Teen Titans. His ability to shapeshift into any animal seemed amazing to me when I was younger. The experience of being able to soar through the skies as a bird or swim deep in the ocean as a whale would be otherworldly.
